Originally launched in 1969 as the MK1 – quickly followed by the improved MK2 in 1972 – the Chopper captured the imagination of a whole generation. Huge, U-shaped handlebars. A swept-back body. An iconic one-piece seat. It was the coolest bike anyone had ever seen. And everybody wanted one.
Now, more than fifty years since it first wheeled its way into your hearts, we’ve brought back the bike that everyone wanted under their Christmas tree.
Re-building an icon
Rest assured – this is no bog-standard copy. After four years of meticulous research and product development, we’ve reverse-engineered an old MK2 to create an (almost) exact replica of the original Chopper (with a few tiny tweaks to make it safe for 2023 riders). From the carefully crafted frame and UK-made 3-speed shifter right down to the vintage decals, this is a Chopper diehard fans will be proud of.
And those classic MK2 colorways? They’re back too. Paint-matched to the original models, the new Raleigh Chopper comes in a choice of fiery Infra-Red and bold Ultra Violet – ready to warm the hearts of all you old-school riders.
